New York, New York. The Lazy Way.
Hello all,
I just spent five fabulous days lazing about the Big Apple. The boyfriend lives in the city, so I took the bus up to visit, and ended up staying a few extra days.
I braved the WORST thunderstorm of DC summer 2012 waiting for the bus on my way up on Wednesday. We are talking waterfalls-of-rainwater-gushing-down-the metro-escalators-can't-see-a-foot-in-front-of-your-face thunderstorm. Luckily, both my computer and I survived.
Sleep. Eat. Read. Walk around the river. Play. That about sums up the week.
His parents were away for the week, which meant we weren't having food magically prepared every night for dinner. Helpless snacking and a lot of eating out ensued. On the last night, inspiration struck, and we cooked.
Broccoli, mushroom, onion, and mustard pizza. Tomato and fresh mozzarella pizza. Avocado, mango, lemon, balsamic salad.
Bon appetite.
I had a wonderful time seeing the boyfriend and hanging out with his little brother and his sister. It was our first visit since school ended, and it was amazing to get to spend some time with him.
Here are some songs from the week.
Enjoy.

Weekend.
First weekend home.
Four and a half hours, one coffee mug. I would be an absolute disaster at a birthday party or casual get together at paint-your-own-pottery shop. I can spend hours pouring over paint colors, going agonizing over designs, and sketching out blueprints. Oh, and then I start painting. I don't talk. I am the picture of focus.
Luckily, my friend is of the same ilk, so we spent all of Saturday afternoon and night working and painting, silently. It was lovely.
The bridge on my walk home.
I dragged my mom out to the farmer's market Sunday morning. Ridiculously overpriced, but the energy and the atmosphere make the six dollar strawberries all the juicer. I came home with visions of strawberry salads, home made yogurt, and sauteed mushrooms dancing in my head.
I realized this morning, when I finally decided to wake up at 12:30, that my lack-of-job situation leaves me with the potential to become all together too relaxed this summer. So, tempting though it is to spend the next few weeks lazing about the house, I need to find a job. I am waiting to hear from a veterinary clinic in town (we are in an amazingly intense game of phone tag at the moment...), so hopefully I will spend the rest of the summer up to my elbows in dogs and cats.
In the meantime, here is my end-of-weekend playlist.
Enjoy.

A day, a tune. Or three.
Friday. Blissfully unproductive. A slow, coffee induced wake up. It will be a horrifying reality check when I graduate and have a job that doesn't include three months of vacation. We students are truly pampered.
How to celebrate my complete and utter release from all responsibility? Shop. Read. Take pictures. Cook. All the little indulgences I missed during the semester. I can tell you one thing, my wallet is not terribly pleased with me. Apparently I don't handle shopping withdrawal well as I suddenly can't pass up the opportunity to spend all the money I'm not making at the job that I don't have. New lotion? Yes please. But surely, I need new shoes, right? And a wallet. How about those lovely silky shorts? Yes, yes, and yes.
Hoorah for unpaid internships! In the spirit of indulgence, have some tunes, if you please.
Enjoy.

Burn baby, burn.
Welcome to summer. After five months of being up to my elbows in exams and chemistry textbooks, summer is particularly wonderful. In my post-exam euphoria, I have made a long to do list of things I want to accomplish this summer.
Let me tell you, I am notorious for making lists of all the lovely chores and projects I want to do. My follow through tends to be a little weak, but all with the best intentions.
So, back to photography, maybe a little writing. Cooking. Reading. And music. Here is a snippet of my 3 am musical musings.
Enjoy.
